QR Codes. What's Your Strategy?

realestatebookqrcode.pngSurely you have been seeing these little QR codes everywhere. What are they? They are Quick Response codes. They are designed to take a consumer from the real world to the virtual world. Smart phone users can scan the code on their phone and be brought to a webpage with more information, a phone number or sms response.

Before you get started using QR codes you need to have a plan in place. Who is your audience? Will they use them? What do you want them to do when they get there?

Audience: Who are you planning to target with your codes? Users of QR codes must fall into your normal demographics of your target audience. They must also have access to a smartphone and have a need to respond to the codes. If your organization falls into this category then read on...

  1. Give more information.
  2. Drive traffic to your website.
  3. Move them along in the sales process.

Production: If you do not have a mobile enabled website then do not use QR codes! Visit qrcode.kaywa.com to generate a free code for any url. There are other sources you can use and pay to upgrade for features like tracking and analytics.

Your code will need to be atleast 1"x1". To be on the safe side and in the 90% range of smatphone capabilities you should go atleast 1.25"x1.25" with a 1/8 white space border.
